Download or read book Bodies of Revolution with Minimum Drag Coefficient and Low Heat Transfer at High Supersonic Flight Velocities written by G. L. Grodzovskii and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The optimal shape of a body of revolution with minimum drag at hypersonic velocities is investigated on the basis of modified Newtonian theory and theory of self-modeling hypersonic flow. It is shown that bodies of optimal form also have a low coefficient of heat transfer, considerably lower than that of conical bodies. It is established experimentally that the optimal properties of the bodies of revolution examined are retained at moderate supersonic flight velocities.
