Book excerpt: With the reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in 1997, additional emphasis was placed on providing student with disabilities greater access to the general education curriculum and including those students in general education classes. Teachers beliefs, prior education, experience, influence the implementation of inclusion practices in the classroom. The problem may be that many educators view the inclusionary process as a headache rather than an opportunity, in part because many principals and teacher are not sufficiently familiar with quality inclusionary practice in the classroom. This study sought to describe current teachers' perception on their schools actions to ensure inclusive classroom preparation. A sample of convenience was used to select participants for this study. Participants of this study included 35 regular education teachers who have at least two years of experience in an inclusive classroom. The results of this study showed that teachers are aware of the professional development and training that exists in order to provide successful inclusion, yet schools and administration are not providing enough in order for teachers feel confident in implementing the inclusion model.
