Book excerpt: I Closed My Eyes is a book where honesty, humor, compassion, sympathy, and empathy are imperative, where words come alive leaving one with the feeling of moral satisfaction, awakening suppressed feelings within the subliminal tunnels of love and truthfulness. The virtuousness of my writing will challenge one's psyche, relating empathetically to the lives of those introduced throughout this poetic ride of emotion. I will expound on the trials and tribulations of distress that most, if not all humanity is dealing with or has dealt with during life. In addition, my poems are to create a stage of play, heighten a climatic impulse, and draw one's soul close to the reality of what he or she is reading. My written language is a form of expression, expressing what one is feeling inside, yet having not the words to express such feelings as love, pain, confusion, confessions and the mere suggestion of being sick and tired of being sick and tired. Therefore, I give personal as well as therapeutic literature to the reader rhythmically with the hope of a new tomorrow, stitching torn esteem, renovating damaged confidence, securing all insecurities and giving pain a shape to better recognize and deal with. Most importantly, I'd like to inform the reader that no one is alone in this massive world of decisions. After reading the poetic literature from my soul one will think I'm writing about him or her directly. I have titled this book I Closed My Eyes because before I knew how to accept the reality of what I was facing, I closed that part of me wishing that it would all have gone away when I opened them. To no avail, my eyes opened and the situation remained. Closing my eyes inspired me to see within and face reality through poetry.
