Book excerpt: Bridge Diagnostics, Inc. was contracted by the Iowa Department of Transportation to perform load testing and load rating on eight highway bridges located primarily in the northern half of the state. Bridge identifications, structure type, and load test dates are provided in Table 1 [Robinson Ditch, West Cedar Creek, Lake Creek, Cedar Creek, Cleghorn Ditch, Des Moines River, East Eagle Creek, Elliot Creek]. These bridges were selected for load testing due to deficient load ratings with various load configurations. This main report provides a general discussion of the load testing, structural evaluation, and load rating procedures. Specific details for each bridge are provided in individual report sections. Additional supporting information on load testing, analyses, and load rating are also provided in the attached appendices.
