Book excerpt: This is one of seven guides designed to help builders, designers, contractors, and others involved in the compliance process become more familiar with California's 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards for Residential and Nonresidential Buildings (Energy Standards) in Title 24, Part 6 as they apply to projects. It is designed to serve as a resource for industry professionals involved in the design, construction, or retrofit of California's buildings. The guides include compliance requirements and recommendations for implementing the Energy Standards in new construction, addition or renovation projects. It was developed by the California Lighting Technology Center, UC Davis and provided by Energy Code Ace, a sub-program of the California Statewide Codes & Standards Program, which offers free energy code training, tools and resources for those who need to understand and meet the requirements of Title 24, Part 6 and Title 20. The program is funded by California utility customers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission and in support of the California Energy Commission. It is implemented by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Diego Gas and Electric, Southern California Gas Company and Southern California Edison.
