The team model focuses on how individual team members use informational cues to reach judgments that are incorporated into team decisions. The notion of distributed expertise illustrates the allocation of critical information across team members. The model specifically addresses the decision making processes of hierarchical teams in which there is one identified leader or decision maker for the team. In addition, this report describes an experimental paradigm for the study of team decision making under conditions of distributed expertise. Level of analysis issues in the study of team decision making are also discussed.
