Book excerpt: Excerpt from Forty-Ninth Annual Report Showing Condition of the Public Schools of Maryland: For the Year Ending July 31st, 1915 Another agency the work of which during the year of 1915 should bring stimulation and sound advice is the Maryland School Survey Commission. Dr. Abraham Flexner, the educational expert of the General Education Board and his assistant Dr. Frank P. Bachman have made rather an extensive examination of school conditions in each county of the State, and the skillful manner in which they did their work has impressed both state and county school officials that they are indeed experts in measuring school efficiency and in suggest ing methods and means which will best attain it. The report of the Commission should be read and discussed in every school community and it is hoped that the members of the legislature will find time to give to it the serious thought it merits.
