Book excerpt: The Global Oral Health Status Report (GOHSR), released in November 2022, serves as a reference for policymakers, provides orientation for a wide range of stakeholders across different sectors and guides advocacy towards better prioritization of oral health in global, regional and national contexts. It is the first ever comprehensive picture of the global oral disease burden, the resources available and highlights challenges and opportunities to accelerate progress towards universal coverage for oral health. To ensure translation and relevance of the report’s findings for countries, and in accordance with WHO regional offices, regional summaries based on the data from the GOHSR have been developed. These are short overviews, highlighting regional specific issues with supporting maps showing distributions of different indicators across countries in the region.
